About Our Church
History of HUMC
Hanover United Methodist Church was founded in 1846, when Judge Harrison Dunn and his wife Mary deeded to the Trustees land for the church on July 2, 1846. The church moved to Lagrange Road in 1957. We celebrated our 175 birthday in 2021. Read about our history here.
Our Mission
The mission of Hanover United Methodist Church is to nurture one another as we reach out to children, youth, the unchurched, and those with spiritual, physical or emotional needs as we each come to know Jesus Christ and learn to live by His example.

The mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Who We Are
We are a congregation of the United Methodist Church in Hanover, IN, a community along the Ohio River in southern Indiana. We are a community of sinners who are trying to become better every day, with Jesus at our side.

We love others and one another. We have a food pantry, an afternoon program for kids in the community, and provide school materials for kids in the Southwestern Jefferson County Consolidated Schools. Through the United Methodist Church we support ministries in Indiana and across the world.
